Economic stress 2010-2015

Installment # 2 from the Financial Astrology lecture at the  18th International FAA Conference in Brisbane Jan 2010.

AXTRO Software

In order to be able to have any success at predicting the future we need to be able to analyse the past. In order to do this I have created astrological analysis software program, called AXTRO that enables the passage of the planets through the zodiac signs to be listed in a chronological sequence over any period of months or years, beginning with the 1800’s. The planets are colour coded according to the elements. In the diagram below for example, the planets from Jupiter to Pluto are listed on the Y axis in rows with Pluto lowest at the foundation level. The years are listed on the X axis, from 2000 on the left to 2009 on the right.

The dominant triplicity shows market direction

The advantage of this layout is that it is possible to quickly identify the dominant triplicity (element). For example until the end of 2007 there is a sea of red and yellow: fire and air. After that time there is a lot of green. Jupiter and Pluto have moved into Capricorn and Saturn has moved into Virgo. Fire and air are associated with quick uplifting market movements and earth and water are associated with slow down trending markets. Students from my HORARY ASTROLOGY Diploma Course will be familiar with the nature of the 4 triplicities (elements). Fire is hot and dry, air is hot and moist. Heat is a common characteristic of both these triplicities.  Just as heat rises so do the markets when either or both the fire or air triplicity dominates. The other triplicities: earth and water are both cold, which is a characteristic of falling markets.

Jupiter Saturn and Pluto have a strong association with the economy

A detailed study of the correlation between the planets and the triplicities over various time periods has led me to conclude that the most influential planets from an economic perspective, when considering the long term picture, are Jupiter Saturn and Pluto.

Jupiter and Saturn Cycles

In traditional astrology Jupiter and Saturn have long been considered to rule the economy and have a strong correlation with the movement of financial markets. They have been called ‘the great chronocrators’ as they mark time in 20 year cycles, with successive conjunctions in the same triplicity lasting for approximately 200 years, and the total cycle through the 4 triplicities lasting approximately 800 years. This long term cycle and associated sub-cycles have also been associated with the rise and fall of civilisations. You may be interested to read my recent post regarding the May 2010 opposition of Jupiter and Saturn.

Why is Pluto included?

But why has Pluto been included with these the traditional planets which rule economic and financial matters? The answer is that in mythological times Pluto was assigned the underground with all its mineral wealth. Minerals have been a source of wealth for thousands of years. Pluto’s favourite possession was the helmet of invisibility. Astrologers have long associated Pluto with unconscious and invisible forces and raw primeval power. The name Pluto means “the rich one”. The modern word ‘plutocracy’ refers to the rule of wealth.  I will come back to Pluto in a moment.

The Dow 2000-2009 and the triplicities

The diagram below shows the same AXTRO software printout overlaid with the DJIA price chart for the same period.  Notice how the markets began to lift when Jupiter went into Leo, and again 2005-2007 when Jupiter and Saturn were in fire signs. And notice how the market fell when the dominating fire triplicity was replaced by the earth triplicity.

In the next diagram below for the period 1920 – 1940 the AXTRO software printout is again overlaid with the DJIA price chart for the same period.  Notice how the markets began to lift when Jupiter a Saturn are in fire and air signs. The red line marks the actual stock market crash in October 1929.

Pluto muscles in

The blue line marks the discovery of Pluto approx 4 months later. Pluto entered human consciousness in a manifest physical sense and this event correlated with the beginning of the greatest depression known in modern times. As Jupiter Saturn and Pluto entered fire signs towards the end of this period the markets started to recover.

A Comparison between the Depression and 2010-2015

An astrological comparison between the depression years and the second decade of the 21st century shows a number of similarities: 1. Similar planetary alignments:

  1. In the early 1030’s Saturn in Capricorn squared Uranus in Aries, both in stressful aspect to Pluto in Cancer. In the second decade of the 21st century Saturn and Uranus are again both in cardinal signs in stressful aspect to Pluto, although this is not simultaneous. in 2010 Jupiter Saturn and Pluto form a The-square. In 2013 Jupiter Uranus and Pluto form a The-square.
  2. Uranus is in Aries on both occasions.
  3. The Jupiter-Saturn cycle is entering its waning (opposition) phase.

My conclusion is that we are likely to enter very difficult economic times in the second half of 2010. This is likely to be a period of great stress, both economically and politically. The duration of this difficult phase is likely to last until 2015 approximately.

June 2010 – Dec 2015

The AXTRO software triplicity graph for the 3 economic planets for the period between June 2010 and Dec 2015 reveals a complex pattern of triplicities. The the down trending elements of water and earth tend to dominate through this time frame. The exception is 2015 when both Jupiter and Saturn are in fire signs.

Dignities and receptions

In order to fully understand this picture dignities and receptions between the planets need to be understood. Dignities and receptions are the twin pillars of traditional astrology, mostly ignored by modern astrologers, but essential to market prediction. Students from my HORARY ASTROLOGY Diploma Course will be familiar with these principles which comprise 2 of the missing keys to accurate prediction. In my next instalments I will analyse the outer planetary aspects for the period 2010 -2015 and demonstrate how dignities and receptions between the planets are used for market predictive purposes.
